ESOC 2022, for the best in stroke science and practice

The annual ESO Conference is ESO’s most important event and the highlight of the year.

It is approaching fast, and we want all of you to be part of it!

At last, we can meet in-person again, enjoy the excitement of the first day through to the emotions of the last session. We are sure this year will be a great Conference and memorable event in every regard. You will hear exciting new science, the results of large clinical trials, new knowledge emerging from the laboratory and optimal ways to implement best practice in stroke.

ESO’s mission is to advance knowledge to improve stroke care:  you – our members – are critical to the success of our mission.

ESOC 2022 presents many interesting lectures for all career stages and colleagues from all relevant disciplines, and a great forum to meet and renew friendships and collaborations.

The programme has been assembled based on your proposals, and includes:

·         A wide selection of innovative randomised trials of new treatments in acute stroke, prevention, and recovery.

·         Great debates on patient selection for thrombectomy in the first few hours after stroke and the need for advanced imaging, and on stroke prevention and how best to use information from MRI.

·         Focused sessions on important but less frequently covered topics, such as stroke in the eye, what to do about covert brain infarcts, dysphagia, non-aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage, management of seizures after stroke, challenges of stroke with co-morbid conditions, and on stroke, thrombosis and cancer, to name a few.

·         Sessions on emerging concepts in stroke and brain health, e.g. on genetics and epigenetics of stroke, perivascular spaces and brain fluid clearance.

·         Lessons to be learned, hearing leading experts describe very challenging cases that they have encountered in ‘My most difficult case and what it taught me.’

·         Excellent jointly hosted sessions, e.g. on immunology of stroke (with ISNI), vascular causes of neurodegeneration (with EAN), advances in neurosonology (with ESNCH), prehospital care (with PRESTO), removing barriers to thrombectomy (with ESMINT), and cardiac sources of stroke (with ESC).

·         And much more…

Your engagement and commitment will continue to make ESOC the great place that it is for science, exchange, education and collaboration. Join us to make it the best possible Conference that it can be.

You cannot join us in Lyon? Do not despair. ESOC 2022 also comes to you in a hybrid digital format. Plus, our platform enables all registrants to follow the sessions via live-stream and to watch them again, on demand, for up to three months after the Conference.

We very much look forward to seeing you in Lyon, France, 4-6 May 2022.
